The StarFields Diary

Have you considered "publishing" your creative contributions to mankind?

Oh, you don't think this applies to you? But it actually does, it applies to EVERYONE - please, read on.

A few days ago, I recorded a telephone interview with Sandra Hillawi on the topic of "Energized EFT", a pattern to move EFT treatments beyond the "zero point of nothingness" towards the energized endstate of EmoTrance, where you feel happy and proactive (instead of just "at peace").

I picked that pattern up from a conversation on the EmoTrance2 newsgroup, evaluated it as being very useful under many circumstances to both EFT self helpers as well as practitioners, and decided to publish it together with Sandra, because she's been doing just that as she's both an EmoTrance trainer, as well as an EFT trainer, with clients and in workshops and thus had case histories to contribute.

The pattern was published on www.TheAMT.com yesterday, and today I got a mail from someone, all up in arms, who said that they'd been doing this for at least two years and how dare we!

So I wrote back and said, "Cool, but did you TELL ANYONE ELSE about it?"

The answer was ... "Ahm, no ... not really ..."

And therein lies the crux of the matter.

I am sure that many people noticed that little girls have a crush on their dad before Freud made it into a pattern and stuck his name on it for all eternity. Sophocles for one, in 475BC.

The fact is that you can be the greatest creative genius in the world, but if you don't tell anyone about it, you might as well not exist at all, as far as the general knowledge repository of the human race is concerned.

So this guy who complained about "Energized EFT" had worked it out that to go into the positive emotions is a good thing for his clients.

We must ask seriously, AND THEN, WHAT WASN'T HE THINKING?

Didn't he think that there were OTHER THERAPISTS, WITH OTHER CLIENTS, that could have benefited ALSO from this discovery?

That there were loads of people out there who would have been seriously grateful and whose lives would have taken a turn for the better in oh so many small and sometimes even significant ways if they'd just SHARED that experience, that wisdom?

Why didn't he PUBLISH his findings?

This guy is obviously on newsgroups, that's where he picked up the announcement of the Energized EFT interview, so why didn't he JUST SAY?

I can't answer that, because I cannot conceive of a time when I would find out something extremely useful for many people, and NOT want to tell them about it!

So now, Sandra and I have the "fame and fortune" and yet another cool pattern associated with our names, and the guy who complained has only a missed opportunity and a what if.

Is that fair?

Perfectly fair.

We spoke out and he didn't.

Case closed.

And now, to the wider applications of this.

I BET, and I really BET, there's all sorts of things, just like that neat Energized EFT pattern, that YOU know about in your own world of business, endeavour, skill and activity, that would HELP OTHERS in all sorts of ways.

These things might be small, a detail that improves a single process, an addition, a new way of doing things that happened by accident, but I swear that everyone who does something for any length of time has something like that lying around in their experience and knowledge.

These "tricks of the trade", "tips for improvement" are immensely VALUABLE.

By sharing them, you make a contribution, you create good will and you make the world a better place - and it doesn't matter if you sell them or if you give them as a bonus to your existing users or if you just make it available for free.

Just put it out there!

And that's the thought of the day.
