The StarFields Diary

Farewell To An E-Machine After 2 1/2 years of sterling work, 12 to 20 hours a day, without a fail, my dear laptop e-machine has given up the ghost. This is a tribute to a mechanical friend ...

So it happened that his harddrive gave up first. He had an operation to replace the harddrive but there were complications; and the CD drive stopped working. Shortly after, the keys began to fall off the keyboard, and then the power supply failed, and my poor little friend was no more.

But we had been through rather a lot together.

If you looked closely at the keyboard, you could still see traces of where I painted German symbols over the letters so that I could know where the sz was to be found, the semi-colon and the triangle brackets.

The first thing I wrote on him was Zauberwelt; and then its translation, The Enchanted World.

There was MindMillion the book, and the hypnosis scripts for Freedom; the entire "Our Dimensions" hypnosis scripts book as well.

Living Energy was written on this computer, as well as Energy Magic; For You, A Star and all its illustrations and an as yet unpublished book on magic.

The Appollonius Quartet was written on him, and Beauty T; he also mixed and mastered the live sound tracks from that event.

The EmoTrance correspondence course, Project Energy, Freedom Spells and Vampire Solstice, Soul Pilots, Art Solutions, the 60 Wealth Creators, EasyEFT.

Plus thousands of articles, posts, essays and then, there's the websites.

I made SilviaHartmann.com on this machine, 1-healing.com, the new StarFields.org, StarFields.net, Magic-Spells-And-Potions, the new Project Sanctuary site, HypnoDreams.org and I'm sure there's more, only I don't remember just now.

My little friend has worked VERY hard, and I'd say it's only fair that he should be laid to rest.

He did well to keep up with me. So I shall raise a glass to him and without any resentment that he didn't last any longer, say farewell to my Comet bought e-machine, and I look forward to meeting my next friend on the journey when he arrives sometime next week.

Fondly,

Silvia

Addendum - Life Lesson About Doing What You Can

I'll probably make this into a 60, but I wanted to make a note of this in principle so I remember.

My laptop is dead, and with it, all the programmes I use to navigate my empire - some 30 or so programmes I use in combination every day.

I have another laptop, a MAC, for music; but I haven't had it very long and never use it for anything at all remotely work related. To be honest, I haven't a clue how most of it works, I can't get it to do anything much, not even download an mp3 file.

It is connected to the net, however, and I can just about type a bit on it (although it's difficult cause you can't see what the keys are supposed to be and all sorts of keys are in different places).

But I have to fill my day somehow or I'll go insane.

For three days I've been whining on about how useless the MAC is and how I hate it for not doing anything I need it to do.

This morning, I had enough of the whining and decided to go at it a different way.

"Alright," I said to myself, "Let's stop going on about what you CAN'T do and focus on what you CAN do, and then DO THAT."

What I can do is to log into internet sites; I can put in text and br instruction and a hrefs by hand; I can copy and paste text.

So I went to work and updated three of the php portals with articles, put the new diary rss feed about and generally did a bit of maintenance.

Now, it's lunchtime, and I've done some excellent work that needed to be done anyway and I'm quite satisfied and happy.

I MUST remember the moral of this tail, because it really turned the day around for me absolutely and made me MUCH happier.

And more productive.

Just sharin' ...
